Way back in 1952, Walter E. Schmidt sold mobile homes out of a small cabin in Wading River. This was the beginning of Schmidt's Trailer Sales.

A few years later, he put his energy into the sales and service of recreational vehicles. The result was a fabrication of his own designs of custom class III hitches. He then incorporated in 1965 under the name W.E.S. Trailer Sales. A large building including three large bays, three lifts and an office was constructed. By 1978 the business had grown so much that even this facility was bursting at the seams. January of 1980 brought more construction to the site - the result was a new facility with more bays, two additional lifts, and a new store which included 30' x 40' of retail floor space. This store included accessories and parts to accommodate every recreational vehicle owner enthusiast.

He semi-retired in 1977, leaving the matters of business to the president of W.E.S. - his daughter Lois J. Nichols. Since 1969, she has helped the family in enhancing the business. In 1979, Kenneth Schmidt, trained by his grandfather Walter, was elected Vice President. Kenneth truly inherited Walter's ability to fabricate, improvise and innovatively solve the problems that might arise with recreational vehicles. He supervises all shop work and service related business at W.E.S.

Here at W.E.S. Trailer Sales, we maintain a stock of anywhere from twenty-five to thirty new units. These and our amny used models are available for previewing on the premises. Over seven acres of our facility are dedicated to the year round storage of vehicles for owners who wish to store their units at W.E.S.
